🌍

Cosmogony & Origin

dualistic creation

Two co-eternal principles: the Realm of Light (Father of Greatness) and the Realm of Darkness. The material world was created when Darkness invaded Light, trapping particles of light in matter. The cosmos is a machine for separating light from darkness.

⚖️

Values & Ethics

divine command

Two-tier: the Elect (strict asceticism) and the Hearers (lay supporters). Five commandments for Hearers, three seals for the Elect.

Purpose & Salvation

servant of god

To liberate all particles of light trapped in matter and return them to the Realm of Light. Mani is the Seal of the Prophets, following Zoroaster, Buddha, and Jesus.

Suffering & Happiness

Suffering is caused by the mixture of light and darkness. The material body is a prison created by dark forces. God is perfectly good but initially limited against the equally real Realm of Darkness. Evil is real, external, and not God's creation.

Eschatology

apocalyptic judgment

At the end of time, all light will be fully separated from darkness through a Great Fire lasting 1,468 years. The material world will collapse. The Realm of Light will be restored, and Darkness permanently sealed away.
